Lead Up To Labour

After a very long week with to many stresses to even bother writing about I was ready to have a baby. Unfortunatly I didn't have the luxury of any form of spare time during the week and the coming weekend was very full indeed, 6 birthdays in one weekend!! I was crossing my legs at 38.5 weeks pregnant and determined to get through the weekend, my facebook status was:

have decided I'm going to have a baby on monday afternoon after a well needed sleep in :P and labour doesn't hurt right? lol

I made it through the weekend, making a brief appearence at each birthday party, needless to say I was in desperate need of sleep afterwards so that's exactly what I did, as planned I slept in Monday morning. Waking rather refreshed and to a quiet house (thanks to my MIL) I had breakfast and posted:

Ok baby you can make an appearance now :)

Jensen's 1st Birthday

As I finished breakfast, Jensen (first birthday was celebrated the day before) awoke from his morning nap. Standing at the change table I felt a strange sensation of not being able to control *insert appropriate way of describing waters breaking here* Having not experienced this before and slight wishful thinking I started to question whether or not infact it was my waters or if my body was playing tricks on me again. I went with the flow and continued along with my daily chores and playing with the boys.

Next I lost my mucus plug, a little more convinced I may be in early labour with water still leaking, I called the midwife and explained that I wasn't entirely sure what was happening but really didn't want to go to hospital to be assessed - she agreed to come to me and do a home visit.

Assessment found:
waters broken
baby's head not engaged and very high
2 cms dialated

After much discussion and many phone calls to various midwives and doctors, we came to the conclusion that I should go into the hospital and have an ultrasound to check the position of the umbilical cord and baby's head. After lunch, a shower and cuddles from the boys we were off to the hospital ...

Slept in, got up had breakfast, then my water broke!
Seems my advanced planning will pay off lol

Ultrasound complete - baby's head still very high, water still flowing and cord not being obstructed we discussed the options and tried to get baby moving ....

Bouncing on a ball, stepping up and down on a step, massage using clary sage, walking, talking, stretching and JUMPING UP AND DOWN and nothing!!

The hours passed by ....

now what??
